Because it's so ordinary, it's easy to overlook how profoundly this movement touches and expresses almost every aspect of our experience of being alive. From qualities of physical motion and vitality, to recurring emotional texture, mental activity, and beyond - the movement of breathing is intricately involved. Come join us as we explore the topography of this amazing territory from the inside. Our emphasis will be on connecting more deeply with how life moves through us and discovering some practical ways we can increase our participation in that movement. Cost of the workshop is on a sliding scale of $25 - $50. To register, click here. All you'll need to bring is yourself. A recording of the class will be provided. Ryan McGladrey has been practicing Osteopathy, Tuina, and other vibratory manual therapy approaches since 1998. He also teaches Chinese internal martial arts, rehabilitative movement, and integrated embodiment practices. Ryan is committed to empowering others with practical means of transformation. He lives in Davis, CA and periodically travels throughout the Pacific Northwest to work with individuals and groups. Our Featured Teacher for December is Dr. Seth Lefkowitz. Seth has studied and taught Taoist movement arts and meditation for many years. His warm and clear teaching style creates an atmosphere that allows his students to directly experience the health benefits of Qigong and meditation. Come enjoy Seth’s Qigong class from 6–7pm on Tuesday evenings for only $7 during December. Our motto at BCH is "Find Your Flow." Every month we ask our featured teachers to tell us their thoughts on "Flow." Here's Seth on Flow: When I think of flow I think of movement both internal and external. The image that this conjures is a moving, meandering stream. When it encounters a boulder it meets, then flows around it, and over time will gradually wear it down. Flow speaks of adaptability and grace that is experienced through presence and stillness of observation and surrender. Qigong has given me a tool to apply and integrate this expression of flow. By focusing on movement with breath and intention, we can generate, circulate, and regulate our qi. Flow helps us to move through energetic boulders and to transform ourselves from beings filled with blockages and stagnation of qi into energy fields where health, longevity, and self-development are cultivated. Join us Saturday, December 12th from 1-4 pm for our monthly workshop exploring ways to cultivate our own healing and to support the healing of those around us. In our accelerating, chaotic, and sometimes fearful world we need skills to bring ourselves back into balance and to process the difficult experiences that we often face---for our own sakes and for the sake of those who depend on us. Join licensed acupuncturist, Mark Montgomery in a workshop on Saturday from 1-4pm to learn and practice tools derived from Chinese medicine, Sufi energy healing and a variety of other disciplines. The workshop will focus on "energy literacy," cultivating the ability to perceive and nourish our own vital energy as well as the energy of those around us. We'll spend time practicing the tools and in meaningful discussion, laughter, connection and community-building. Workshop cost: sliding scale of $30 - $60. Faced with the awful facts and dire projections, we are all struggling emotionally, psychologically (consciously or unconsciously), even physically. Yet we rarely discuss it. Guided by long-time activist/filmmaker and yoga instructor, Vanessa Schulz, this class allows the sadness and dread of environmental collapse to be acknowledged, experienced and accepted. Breaking through the psychic numbing and social censorship of taboo subjects we often dismiss as depressive, we are reminded why our individual climate-friendly actions matter. We learn why affirmation of our emotional body is so vitally important to cultural and personal transformation. Join us in building community for what lies ahead and for what is already here. Cost of the class is $10. For more information click here or call us at BCH at 541-322-9642. Hello, Friends of BCH.

Here's Caitlin on Flow: "Flow is our true nature. Fragmentation, powerlessness and fear are not. When we let go of the programming and false shields of identity that mask our true nature we allow ourselves to remember who and what we really are. Flow is movement with right effort, a balanced dance between masculine and feminine energies. Flow brings with it abundance." |
